DATING SITES Part 1
May 22, 2024

Have you ever been on a dating site?  Take heed, there are a lot of people out there that have made Dating  sites their place of employment.   Some of them  make very good money.  There are a lot of lonely people out there that are looking for someone that might become a companion , or just a good friend .  Someone to go places with or go out to dinner and a movie.   This would break up the monotony of everyday living.  Especially if this person doesn’t work any longer and has long days of nothing but TV .  Someone to reach out to on the phone to talk to or text.

I know this because I have been widowed or three years and it is starting to get a little lonely for me.  Just having someone that will be there if you need encouragement , or just plan conversation.

My first dating site I met a gentleman,(I thought) who liked me and right away wanted me to get off the site and go to Skype.  So being the newbie and very naive , I went.  This person started asking me question after question.

About where I lived , what kind of car did I drive , what I did for a living.  While I was answering his questions, I noticed they  were typing away before they knew my answers .  Then they weren’t commenting on anything I told them.  I asked them if they were even reading my responses.  No answer.  They used my religion to trap me,  they were a church goer and a christian . They had a home In Miami and one in Grand Rapids.   Also be aware that if they are out of the country where they can’t be reached, that’s a red flag.

We texted for about two weeks.  This person was going to get off the oil rig in the middle of the Gulf, and come to meet me as soon as possible.  I was excited, this man was supposedly rich and single , and according to the pictures very good looking.

One day I was talking to my sister in law on the phone , telling her about all of this.  She warned me that it could be a scammer.  I was shocked, it never entered my mind that it might be happening to me.

We started researching this person.  Did you know  you can put a picture on this one site and they will scan it and tell you who it is.  We searched his address in Miami and it was a Catholic school.  Imagine my embarrassment .

We found out the persons information came back that it was a pastor of a church in Texas that was killed in a motorcycle accident  about three years ago. I got out of that situation and deleted all my texts to him.

Next, you would think I had learned something from this.  I learned just enough to ask questions and do some research.

This next person was in Florida and had a construction company.  He would call me and text me , every morning just to say good morning to me.   I started asking questions first about his phone, when I checked, it came back as  a number for a woman that was deceased .  He said it was the phone that was given to him when he moved from Texas

I let that go,  he knew I was suspicious .  he sent me a copy of his drivers license.  I had searched his  address.  before that , well when I saw his license , it had the correct address.  So I’m thinking maybe I’m wrong about him.  Look for part 2 coming next
